A. SUEZ CANAL TOLLS REDUCTION

THE SUEZ CANAL AUTHORITY (SCA) OFFERS REBATE ON TOLLS WHENEVER THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE ROUTE (VIA CAPE OF GOOD HOPE OR PANAMA) IN ORDER TO ATTRACT SHIPS TO PASS VIA SUEZ.SCA POLICY IS NOT FIXED, AS THEY STUDY EACH CASE INDIVIDUALLY, TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION VARIOUS FACTORS, I.E. PRESENT FREIGHT MARKET, BUNKERS COST, VSL'S CONSUMPTION/SPEED, DURATION OF VOYAGE, ETC.

THEREFORE WE CANNOT PREDICT WHAT/IF ANY PERCENTAGE SHALL BE OFFERED.
THE BEST WAY TO KNOW IS TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION & WAIT FOR THE REPLY OF SCA.(PLEASE FIND ATTACHED MIN INFO REQUIRED)

A FAX SHOULD BE SENT BEFORE SAILING DATE BY 48 HOURS AT LEAST FROM LAST PORT OF ORIGIN.
A L S O SCA SHOULD BE NOTIFIED ON YOUR DECISION W I T H I N 72 HOURS.(THRU AGENT)

B. DEADLINE / VALIDITY OF REBATE OFFERED - I M P O R T A N T

SCA WILL ONLY TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION APPLICATIONS THAT SHALL BE SUBMITTED BEFORE SAILING DATE BY 48 HOURS AT LEAST FROM LAST PORT OF ORIGIN.

THE VALIDITY OF REDUCTION IS 70 DAYS FROM THE FIRST DATE OF SCA RESPONSE TO THE REBATE REQUEST. HOWEVER WHEN THE 70 DAYS ARE OVER NO REBATE IS TO BE ENJOYED.
THEREFORE IF THIS DURATION (70 DAYS) MAY BE EXCEEDED A NEW REBATE REQUEST FORM SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO SCA TO RESTUDY THE CASE P R O V I D E D THAT THE REQUEST IS RECEIVED BY SCA BEFORE THE SAILING DATE.

C. SPEED

THE SPEED DECLARED IN THE APPLICATION SHOULD BE AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE TO THE ANTICIPATED AVERAGE SPEED.
ANY CONSIDERABLE DIFFERENCE IS REASON FOR SCA TO REDUCE THEIR INITIAL OFFER, AS THEY CAN CROSSCHECK THE SPEED BASIS SAILING AND ARRIVAL DATES STATED IN THE DECLARATIONS (PLS SEE PROCEDURE).

D. REDUCTION OF INITIAL OFFER

THE FIGURE OF "SCNT" (ON WHICH THE TOLLS ARE ASSESSED) IS SUBJECT TO ALTERATIONS FM TRANSIT TO TRANSIT, ACCORDING TO THE BUNKERS QUANTITY CARRIED ON BOARD.
PER STANDARD PRACTICE WE BASE OUR CALCULATIONS FOR TRANSIT EXPNS ON THE FIGURE OF "SCNT PER LAST TRANSIT", AS IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PREDICT THIS FIGURE FOR A FUTURE TRANSIT.
THE SAME INFORMATION (SCNT PER LAST TRANSIT AND PRE-ESTIMATED CANAL TOLLS) ARE USED FOR THE APPLICATION FOR TOLLS REDUCTION.
RECENTLY THE SCA ARE REDUCING THEIR INITIAL OFFERS BY 1% WHEN THERE IS CONSIDERABLE - DOWNWARD - DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PREVIOUS AND LAST FIGURES OF SCNT.

E. PROCEDURE

ON COMPLETION OF THE VOYAGE, AND WITHIN 6 MONTHS FROM THE DATE OF TRANSIT, SHOULD BE COLLECTED AND SUBMITTED TO SCA VARIOUS DECLARATIONS ISSUED BY MASTER, OPERATORS AND CUSTOMS OR PORT AUTHORITY AT PORTS OF ORIGIN AND DESTINATION, PROVING THAT THE VOYAGE PERFORMED AS INITIALLY DECLARED.
WE STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU IN ORDER TO AVOID DELAYS TO COLLECT EVERY DOCUMENT SOONEST POSSIBLE AND NOT ON COMPLETION OF THE VOYAGE.

THE QUANTITIES OF CARGO LOADED AND DISCHARGED MUST BE IDENTICAL (AS PER BILL OF LADING) TO AVOID SUSPICIONS OF SCA THAT SHIP CALLED AT AN INTERMEDIATE PORT TO OPERATE CARGO.EVENTUAL CALL AT AN INTERMEDIATE PORT TO EFFECT CARGO OPERATION IS REASON FOR CANCELLATION OF DISCOUNT OFFERED.

CALL AT AN INTERMEDIATE PORT FOR: SPARES/PROVISIONS/BUNKERS/CREW CHANGES/ARMED GUARDS, ETC --NON-- COMMERCIAL OPERATION, DOES NOT AFFECT THE CASE OF TOLLS REDUCTION.
HOWEVER, SHOULD BE SUBMITTED A DECLARATION OF CUSTOMS OR PORT AUTHORITY FOR REASON OF STOPPAGE.

THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS SHOULD BE SUBMITTED TO SUCANAL AUTHORITY WITHIN --6--SIX-- MONTHS FROM THE DATE OF TRANSIT (attached samples).
WE SUGGEST YOU TO GET EACH DECLARATION DURING VESSEL'S VOYAGE / STOP AT INTERMEDIATE PORT.

1.COPY OF BILL OF LADING OR CARGO MANIFEST
2.A STATEMENT SIGNED BY THE MASTER AND OWNERS/OPERATORS THAT THE VESSEL MADE HER VOYAGE WITHOUT ANY STOPPAGE AT INTERMEDIATE PORT FOR CARGO OPERATIONS.
3.CERTIFICATE FROM PORT AUTHORITIES OF ORIGIN STATE: DATE OF DEPARTURE - NATURE & QUANTITY OF CARGO LOADED (OR IN BALLAST)- SAILING TO.
4.CERTIFICATE FROM PORT AUTHORITIES OF DESTINATION STATE: COMING FROM – DATE OF ARRIVAL – NATURE & QUANTITY OF CARGO DISCHARGED (OR IN BALLAST)
5.A LETTER FROM THE OWNER/CHARTERER OR OPERATOR STATING THE DATE OF TRANSIT AND PERCENTAGE OF THE REDUCTION WITH THE REQUEST OF RELEASE THE FUNDS TO THEIR AGENT.

THE DISCOUNT SHALL BE RELEASED "AFTER" THE APPROVAL BY SCA OF THE SUBMITTED DECLARATIONS, WITHIN 2 MONTHS.
SC TOLLS WITHOUT ANY REDUCTION TO BE SUBMITTED BEFORE TRANSITING BY AGENT.

ALL DECLARATIONS MUST BE ISSUED IN THE OFFICIAL LETTER-HEAD OF THE AUTHORITY AND BEAR SIGNATURE/OFFICIAL STAMP.
IN CASE OF EVEN THE SLIGHTEST SUSPICION OF FORGED DOCUMENTS SUCANAL AUTHORITY WILL CANCEL THE REBATE OFFERED.

ATTACHED PLS FIND SAMPLES OF DECLARATIONS REQUIRED. IT IS NOT NECESSARY THE CUSTOMS OR PORT AUTHORITY TO BLIND-FOLLOW OUR SAMPLES.

HOWEVER, IT IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE THE DECLARATION TO:
-BE ISSUED IN THE LETTER-HEAD OF THE AUTHORITY.
-BEAR SIGNATURE AND STAMP OF THE AUTHORITY / NAME + TITLE OF PERSON SIGNED.

N.B THE FOLLOWING AUTHORITIES ARE ALSO ACCEPTED BY SCA.
